Working From Home?
Right now, many of us are finding ourselves working from home. Some of us are already homeworking experts but for some juggling home schooling, finding space for work and juggling everything which goes on in our 4 walls is something we find a challenge. We don’t have to be perfect, but here are some ideals to help you with adapting, hopefully some will be useful to you.

Give yourself some space
Whatever space you have, whatever equipment you have, it will work – remember its not forever. Just think there will be no air-con arguments, it can be as hot or cold as you like! So make it yours, somewhere you feel able to produce work. If it’s the kitchen table, just ensure you know when the table if yours and when you need to return it back to the home. Remember to take some breaks and stand up and walk around, even set yourself a number of steps or flights of stairs in those breaks, give yourself little challenges.
Wifi Wars
If you are sharing wifi and you have a deadline achieve, do ensure you allocate yourself enough time. We are in unique times, and (deadline dependent) we can work the hours we chose, so ensure that anyone else needing the wifi (for business or pleasure), know when you need it. Hopefully your wifi will be in perfect working order for you all, but don’t leave it until the last moment, just in case!
Keep it real
Many of us have a job to do and can work at any time of day or night, if you fancy working at 6am or having a lie in, do it, but do try and keep a schedule of the day. It’s too easy to get lost in tasks that aren’t urgent and then rushing for deadlines. Do ensure you keep to some regime too, that can help. We find a list of things to do, keeps us focussed and gives a sense of achievement when we cross them through. Decide what hours you want to work and then ensure you get the ‘to do’ list done in those hours.
Keep in touch
Take the time to virtually meet with your colleagues and team regularly, it will work wonders for your morale and motivation, we all will have good days and we all have bad days, there are lots of apps out there to use such as Skype for Business, Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Why not organise Friday night drinks via Houseparty or Whatsapp too.
Keep it clean
We definitely recommend as part of having a daily routine to get up, get out of those PJ’s and shower! It will start your day off with the best start.
Limit your social media
We’ve all done it, scrolling for minutes or hours and with no boss looking over your shoulder or internet blocks, you could find yourself wasting a lot of your day. We have so much more time available for us, not having to travel to work and not being able to go out, so try and gain something positive out of all those extra hours.
Keep Active
It’s great for the body and the mind! Make sure you move throughout the day and take that hour of exercise in the fresh air, if you can. You won’t regret it!
It’s not going to be forever, so enjoy it, do what you can and let us know how it’s going….
Stay safe
