Rejection? A few tips to help you move forward…

Rejection is horrible, no one likes it. When you put yourself out there and the result is not what you want or expect it to be, it can be heartbreaking.

You cannot let the rejection keep you from moving forwards. It is understandable to feel frustrated, confused, and angry, but it can be a valuable experience & something that can allow you to move towards something bigger and better.

Here are some exercises to help you process and redefine your experience.

Reframe Rejection

Use the experience as a learning opportunity. Questioning what you can learn from the process can help you gain perspective, create meaning and cause you to reflect on the importance of the opportunity. You can also ask yourself what you will do differently in the future.

Recognize Rejection

Sending a note to those involved thanking them for their time.

The process took time and effort, thanking people not only shows recognition and appreciation (if you feel it or not) but new connections and opportunities may arise from this simple act.

Reach out to others

Experiencing rejection can cause many different uncomfortable emotions. Rejection can undermine  feelings of self-worth and value. It can make you feel vulnerable and can affect your confidence.

Surround yourself with people who remind you of your value. Family, friends and even colleagues can help you by listening and reminding you of your strengths.

Get back out there

It can be challenging to put yourself back out there after rejection, fear of another rejection can be crippling.

By pushing forwards you can seek new opportunities and possibly create new and unique solutions, giving you the edge and a huge boost to self-confidence and worth.

You may decide that you want to try something new, even if you aren’t successful the first time, persevere.

By using rejection as a learning tool, you can work out what is best for you. Help you pinpoint your value and strengths. Helping you focus on what is important to you.
