Unemployment Update… Keep positive
This week we have heard new reports that more than 395,000 workers were made redundant in the three months to November 2020 and that the most recent unemployment rates were 5% which is an increase of 0.6% over the previous three months . Currently the unemployment figures stands at 1.72 million.
It is expected that unemployment will continue to rise with numbers perhaps reaching 2.6 million by the middle of this year. These forecasts however don’t take into account the government’s d
ecision to extend the furlough scheme to the end of April, which could keep unemployment lower.
Whilst these figures are higher than we have seen since 2016, there are positive things happening out there in the South West. Talking to both candidates and clients they are busy and candidates are finding jobs and clients are reporting that business has remained positive across lots of sectors. So keep looking, it only takes 1 job to make a real difference to your career. Good luck!
