Time to think about your career…

Life is busy, looking for a job can feel like a full time job and dashing from interviews in lunch breaks and straight from work can leave us little time to think about where you would like your career to go and how each job role you apply for and each interview you attend measures up.

Good things to think about throughout your job search could include…

What interests you?… Both in the working week and also outside of the 9- 5.  Is there anything you would like to combine or cross over into your career, or are you looking for specific working hours or a location close to home or a hybrid role to allow you time to indulge in your interests and hobbies.  Trying to tie in a hobby with paying the rent could possibly take the enjoyment away so do think about this before combining both.

What are you good at?…

ALWAYS good to reflect on before an interview but also thinking about that when applying for jobs.  We are all more motivated when we are great at something or exceed in an area – this is definitely something to think about to include in your next job or career move.

Where do you see yourself in 1, 2 or 5 years?….. Yes it’s a typical interview question but it’s actually a great question to ask yourself, are you going for a job where you can only see yourself in for 6 months or is it putting you on that stepping stone to your dream job.

Does this job actually interest me?….

We can control the job we apply for, the interviews we attend and if we should accept a job offer, but do think are you going to say YES if you are offered the job?   It will save you and the company time if it’s not right.

What else if important to you?… Do you want to work close to home, do you want to finish by 4pm, do you want flexible hours, do you want hybrid working, do you want fantastic benefits, what salary is your ideal figure, what type of company or organisation are you looking for?  If you get offered a job which ticks all of your boxes – FANTASTIC!  But what are the non-negotiables and the ideal things on your list. It will make making decisions along the way a little easier.

Where can Alexander Mae fit in?… That’s what we are here for, we will listen to your needs and listen to our clients requirements to make the perfect match.  You can ask us the questions before and after the interview.  We are there every step of the way, helping you secure your dream job.
