Keep Busy, Keep Positive, Keep Going…

Whether you have been made redundant or have been furloughed, you’ll be pleased to hear that there are lots of positive things happening in the UK and specifically in Bristol in the job market.  If you do find yourself waiting to return to your job or facing redundancy, why not take some time for yourself (outside of your job searching)  and make good use of this time, after all there is only so much Netflix we can watch.

Here is some ideas of what you can occupy some of your spare time with and it really is an opportunity to improve your skills or knowledge.

Keep Practicing

If you have a PC or laptop at home, practice using the different packages and software.  Google how to do create a pivot table in Excel or mail merge in Word or something to make your life easier once you are back in a job.

Train Yourself

There are lots of online courses, and often they can be free.  Whether it be for improvement in your job or self improvement, you’ll feel confident about doing something a little better than before.

Work Out

It doesn’t have to be a marathon, just something a little physical challenge you, or a walk with some else to help talk about the new improved you!   Whether you are walking, running, cycling  or stretching, this will have a positive impact on your wellbeing and will improve confidence for your next interview.

Keep Looking

If you have been made redundant and are looking for a new job, do dedicate a part of your day to your job search.  Review your CV, add your newly found skills or qualifications and ensure you get back to people promptly who show an interest in your skills and experience.

The days can feel long and if you haven’t been invited to an interview, it will be good to focus on something other than your job search for some of your spare time.  The market is returning with full force and you won’t be searching for long.
