In a recent poll a resounding 46% said that salary is their top priority when applying for a job! Make sure you do your research and look at the market rate for your skills and expertise, that way you can confidently negotiate a salary that truly reflects your worth and the current job market.
Flexibility…
Given times have changed, more candidates are looking for a remote or hybrid working environment. Whilst remote working was commonplace through the pandemic companies are now more likely to offer hybrid working and some are even returning to the office full-time. Think about what works for you in terms of a healthy work life balance but be mindful to strike a harmonious balance between personal and professional commitments.
Culture Fit….
Before applying for a job think about the type of environment that you thrive in and will give you long-term happiness. This can be difficult to judge from an advert but once at interview stage do make sure you ask questions about the company culture and working environment. Remember whilst Teams interviews are more convenient, if offered a face to face interview take it with open arms, this is your chance to experience the culture for yourself! The happier you are in the role the better your performance, remarkable things happen when you do a great job!
What benefits matter…
You need to ask yourself what benefits are most important to you, larger companies often offer a more comprehensive and greatly enhanced benefits package, however, you achieve a different set of perks when working for a smaller company. Is it Pension, Healthcare or Holidays or is it more about the salary and the job itself!
All of the above are really important factors when considering a new role. However, think about your key requirements are and what is truly essential for your next career move!
