2023 here we go….
2022 has been a busy year both if you were looking for a job or looking for a new employee. It’s been a record high of vacancies advertised and really low employment, so a job seekers dream. But how will 2023 unfold?…
Well nobody really knows what will happen in 2023….but here is what we know. According to a recent survey by Business West, found that 77% of firms reported recruitment difficulties in the last quarter. 2022 certainly wasn’t easy for businesses, who have been faced with the outbreak of the pandemic, followed by the Brexit transition, then with record inflation levels and decreasing consumer and market confidence as the cost-of-living crisis and a recession looming. However 2022 was very positive in terms of many businesses remaining really busy.
If you looked for a job in 2022, it was very likely you didn’t struggle to find suitable jobs or employers that were wanting your skills, you may have been able to negotiable higher pay or flexible or hybrid working to make your new job that that little bit more perfect.
If you are looking for a job, it’s likely that 2023 won’t be as buoyant, but certainly companies are still looking for great people. So now is the time, to ensure your CV is up to date, your online profile is in great shape and start applying for your perfect job. A lot of interviews are still happening online, so download Zoom and Microsoft Teams, check your WiFi and make sure your surrounds are professional (or blur your background). Prepare for your interview, know why you would be good for the job, and why the job interests you.
If you are looking for a new employee, then that work should start now, update (or put together a job description), know what benefits you offer, and when asked the question why would someone want to work here, know the positives of working for you or with you. Candidates are still moving quickly so do have a clear idea of when you would like to interview and when you would like someone to start and confident about what the company has to offer.
